Last Minute Advice to Applicants - 10/30/09
The application for the McNair Scholars Program is due on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 by 3pm. Students submitting an application should make sure their application is submitted to our office by this date. Letters of Recommendation typically come into our office up until a week or so after the deadline.
#1. If you are in the process of filling out your application and are worried about your letters of recommendation arriving on time then do not worry! Again, we understand recommenders are inundated with these requests during this time of the semester. BE SURE TO NOTE this in your application who your letters of recommendation will come from.
#2. For students wanting to apply but feel you may not have enough time to fill out the application - STILL APPLY. The application requires time to complete but it something you have control over. Utilize the next few days to contact people to write letters of recommendation. Submit a note along with your application that your letters are in processing.
#3. The McNair Scholars Program benefits students who are SERIOUS about going onto graduate school and benefits those who are NOT QUITE SURE even more! Many applicants fall in this category. If you are NOT SURE about what you want to do post USC, this program will definitely help you. The benefits are TOO Great for you not to apply. So Apply! Don't be left out of this year's cohort.
#4. If you have questions regarding any of the program requirements, DO NOT HESISTATE TO ASK. You don't know what we can do if you never ask the question. BE PERSISTENT!!!
